At long last you have made your decision to play golf. The question now is, how passionate are you in this game? Or how long are you going to play? Moreover, it is also important to know if you are planning to make golf a part of your daily or weekly habit. Then again, whatever your reasons are or your plans for this game, it is important that you have what you need on your first golf experience.

If you are really into playing this game, then the first thing that you will need is golf clubs. This probably sounds new to you. Golf clubs are not a place just like the club houses that are present in any subdivision and the like. Instead, golf clubs are the sticks that you will need to hit the golf ball towards your target – the hole.

There are five types of golf clubs and each type has its own unique function on the golf course. The five types of golf clubs are the woods, irons, wedges, putters and hybrids. However, for this article, let us discuss about buying your first golf iron.

Here are some essential tips for you to remember in buying your first golf iron:

- You should once again know the frequency or number of times that you think you will be playing on the golf course. If you think that you don’t have enough time, passion, or energy in playing that much, then it would be better if you consider just borrowing to your friends or buying second hand golf irons. Besides, you won’t be using them that often. But, if you have no money issues, then just go on and buy all the clubs that you want.

- You must know your financial limitations. This is somewhat related with the first tip, it’s just that this pays more focus on the money than the times that you will be playing golf. Then again, this is important to consider since let’s just say you are still a beginner, I think you don’t have to buy all 14 clubs or the most expensive clubs. Besides, you still don’t know as to how long are you going to last in playing golf.

- You should know how to determine the shaft that is best for you. Having just the right shaft for your golf iron can increase your accuracy and distance. But if you have a poorly suited iron then it will just lead to wayward shots. The two most important things to consider in a shaft are its composition and flex. You can choose between a shaft made of graphite which is soft and a shaft made of steel which is harder. If you are a beginner, you should go for the graphite shaft.

- Your height and your arm are also two things that you must consider in choosing the shaft of your golf iron. The length of your club can be determined by measuring the distance of the tip of your middle finger to the ground. Again, the result will give you the length of the shaft of your golf club.

- Use your chance to ask around and shop around. You can ask your friends or anyone that you know who plays golf for suggestions. It is a good idea to gather what these people will have to say. If you are ready to buy, make sure that you do some window shopping first or hop from one shop to another and compare prices. Of course, before you go out you should have a budget in mind that you will need to follow so that you will not end up being short of money to buy the other things that you need.

Barry Rogers has been in the field of golf iron sets for a long time and maintains a website about golf irons where you can get answers to the rest of your questions.

It may hurt a bit, but let’s face it – a beginner golfer may think of golf as a sport that only involves merely hitting the golf balls without thinking how the body reacts to every swing. This novice perception in this sport may just be the reason for the existence of future golf injuries. However, before you will misinterpret my statement, I am not saying that only beginners are affected by these injuries, because while on the course an injury can happen to both a pro and a beginner.

A golfer has a high chance of experiencing the pain of being injured while playing if they were not able to condition themselves before the game. More so, if he doesn’t know the right body mechanics and the right approach to every move that they will be doing.

Any physical sport we play has levels to it. Of course there is the muscular level where the body is taught what to do. Then there is mental level where you mind tells you can do it and so you do. But there is also the emotional or spiritual level where one lets their body tell them how to do it and lets go of the outcome.

There is a movie about the game of golf and the players it breeds called The Legend Of Bagger Vance. The main character was an amazing golfer that went away to the war. When he returns he tries to play the game and his muscles remember but his mind and spirit have left and he is not able to find his way. It is not until he learns to trust what he knows in his heart that his mind talks positive and his body responds with amazing golf.

The game of golf is set up to be hard. With water, sand, trees, and crazy fairway layout set up on the courses you have to combat this as well as the inner voices talking to you. It is a mastery of each person to know when to listen and when simply play from a deeper place believing you can do it.

So you have to work on your swing. That means getting a video of your swing. See what you are doing when you move. You probably do not even know you twist your wrist until you see it. It is in the visual that the mind will accept and allow for change.

Finding someone that you know has a game you would like to play is a good way to not only practice but to learn as well. Follow them as they set up their shot, swing and then how they follow through. What is there mind set? How do they look at the game? Why do they succeed? Take this information and adapt it into your own life.

Surely the best way to improve is to practice. Take your clubs and get out to the range and to the courses and practice what you are trying to change and re learn it in your mind and heart. Feel the way a good shot feels and get familiar with that so you know when you have hit a good one. Then watch your game and scores improve.

Golf drivers are indispensable equipment in golf, any golfer will agree with this statement. However, if you are still beginning to play golf and you are not yet familiar as to what drivers look like, then I should say you just have to find the club with the biggest head and the longest in length – that is the golf driver.

If at this time you are thinking of buying your golf driver then don’t make your decision too fast. I think it can still wait for a minute or two of deeper thinking. I know you want to know about the top quality drivers for this year. That is why you are reading this article, but again before that I think it will be a good idea to know first the things to consider in buying a good driver.
The first thing that you should consider aside from knowing the best golf drivers for 2010 is to look into the level of your expertise. This will help in guiding you to buy the driver that will suit your skills in playing the game. If you are a beginner then the best choice for you are the drivers with big heads. Drivers with big heads can help you hit the ball easier, as well as in making sure that your ball lands on a sweet spot. If you are an advanced player, a driver with titanium head will be the best choice for you.

With all the choices available out there, choosing the best drivers for you won’t be that easy. Besides, it has really never been easy. One thing that you should always put in mind while choosing a driver is the function of the driver that you are seeking it for. Some players want speed, force and distance while others want accuracy in their golf swings. It’s up to you as to which function of the golf driver will you go for.

However, you must also know that your experience will be the best determining factor for you to know as to what driver is the best for you. The functions, shapes and appearance of the drivers will just fall next to your personal experience in handling different drivers. At this point of time, let us have a peek into 5 of the best golf drivers for 2010 regardless of personal preferences:

1. The Adams Speeding Fast 10 driver Great ball speed and drive distance plus a lesser drag of about 10% due to the increased head curvature and a larger clubface are some of the features of this driver. Adams Speeding Fast 10 driver really lives up to its name being the driver to generate the longest distance in the Adams Speeding drivers.

2. The Callaway Big Bertha Diablo Edge driver The promise of this golf driver is in giving you a distance advantage every time you tee it up. Yet aside from that, this club also has the highest moment of inertia (MOI) and deepest center of gravity (CG) among all the Callaway golf drivers. Moreover, it can lead you towards having a higher impact speed due to its reduced drag.

3. The Callaway FT-IZ With the weight replacement technoly that was applied in this driver, as well as the high-end materials that were used for their production such as titanium, cured carbon fiber and formed aluminum cast and steel, these drivers don’t only give a good feel to the golfer, but it can also satisfy them if they are looking for drivers with stunning appearance. Moreover, this driver has far more benefits aside from the fact that this driver was designed to be longer and straighter than the rest of the drivers made by Callaway.

4. The Cleveland Launcher DST Having a longer shaft (45.75″) and a lighter weight gives this driver an increased swing speed. More so, an over-all distance of about 3-10 yards could be reached by its faster clubhead speed and with a deeper center of gravity, this driver has a higher MOI and straighter drives.

5. The Cobra ZL The ZL in the name of this driver stands for Zero Limits, which was the mindset of the engineers who built it. As such, the driver is said to be the most innovative and the highest performing driver ever made by Cobra golf. It was designed to help all golfers to reach more distance, and it was engineered to have three simple face-angle settings (Open, Neutral, Closed) which allows golfers to optimize their trajectory.

The 5 drivers presented here are just a few of the best drivers for this year. But, then again, the best determinant in looking for the driver that will be best for you is still your personal experience with different drivers. Besides, we have different perspectives as to which are the best, as well as which are the ones which we are comfortable using. As the old saying says, “one man’s meat maybe another man’s poison.

Barry Rogers has been in the field of golf clubs for a long time and maintains a website about golf equipment where you can get answers to the rest of your questions.

Whatever task you will have at hand, getting helpful advice can help. Once you have a track to run on, a guide, it can be of great help in completing your undertaking. three super strategies set forth in this article can help you to complete your task Try these tips and you will likely get improved outcomes.

When driving a golf ball, it really is essential that you do things properly. If you do not, the effects may be devastating. You can end up slicing to the left or right, or even grinding it into the ground. Follow these 3 ideas to get exceptional results.

The Professional Golf Association, which is the world’s earliest association for the game was developed in Britain in 1901. Then in 1911, Australia followed suit with the Professional Golfers’ Association of Australia. As far as the United States went, we started to saw professional golf tours come out somewhere in the 1920′s. We couldn’t see ladies actively playing the sport openly right until somewhere after World War II. So where specifically golf was developed is still a controversial dilemma.

But one thing is definite; this game has now fascinated the whole world. Switch on your television set and you’re going to see players from France, Africa, China, Australia, the United States, and a lot more. Most people love golfers like Vijay Singh, Camilo Villegas, Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson. Visit any city just about worldwide and you will probably find a golf course, including one that is along the highway.

Designing these courses to make them more difficult has been a hot ticket for quite a while. Now you’ll see flat courses, courses on hills, courses designed around waterways, etc. The more difficult the challenge the course offers the more the players love it. We now have live telecast for the PGA Tour, enabling us to keep an eye on players like Tiger Woods. Fans would certainly take a trip across countries just to see such golf game played live in front of all of them.

While men continue to dominate the number of participants of golf, women have also shown up as professional golfers for the last 60 years; with professionals like Annika Sorenstam, Natalie Gulbis, Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, and Morgan Pressel. Women have been emerging at the lead through the years and have been giving men a run for their money with regards to group of fans.

It is undeniably true that our society likes the game of golf. Who suspected striking a tiny ball using a stick across an area and into a golf hole could be so fascinating? With an incredible number of supporters, this game has become as talked about as football. For sure, this game is not merely a trend that goes classic with time, but an activity that will last long.

One of the more unmistakably upsetting golf shots one can make at any time is a golf shank. It is not only dangerous to any bystanders, it is embarrassing to the player and can be a source of mirth to fellow players. It is often hard to know why one would suddenly produce such a fearfully bad shot, and no-one is totally safe from doing this occasionally.
What Causes a Golf Shank ?

Basically a golf shank is when the ball goes off on a hard right tangent, at anything up to right angles from point of aim. This is usually caused when the ball is miss-hit, often off the tee,and the club makes impact with the ball at the point where the club shaft meets the club-face, also known as the hosel or shank area of the club.

Having your body position too close to the ball and your weight on your toes pushing you too far through the ball thereby connecting the heel of the club with the ball. With the swing constricted in this way you may find the club too much to the inside on the back-swing and so end up swinging too much out in front as you come through to connect with the ball.

Work the toe of the club rather than the heel of the club as you follow through the downswing to address the ball. The club needs to be aligned and square at point of contact.

So How Do You Fix a Golf Shank?

Ensure you maintain the correct rotation and not too far out on the back-swing. This can sometimes result in you swinging out in front of the ball too much guaranteeing the club-face will be in the incorrect position at address. You should always ensure that you have a proper set up routine, checking your posture, stance and position from the ball.

It is vital that your body maintains the right position as you come through your golf swing to make contact with the ball and this is achieved by ensuring you have the correct arc to your swing. Double check by having your left shoulder over your right knee at the top of your back-swing.

Then work on your aim and work the toe of the club rather than the heel of the club towards the ball, by aiming slightly inside the line of the ball.

Another way to to stop a golf shank is to place a club or length of string along the line of the club path slightly outside the placement of the ball. Ensure as you swing through that you are aiming to miss the club or string and hit the ball. You cannot possibly shank the ball if you train yourself to aim in this way.

From football to falconry, motorsport to marathon running, the Dubai sporting calendar offers something for everyone. Naturally, most outdoor sporting activities take place in the cooler autumn and winter months stretching from October through to late March with sporting superstars keen to flock to the Gulf’s most cosmopolitan city to take part in some of the richest events on their respective calendars. But it’s not only the events and tournaments that are of the highest standard; Dubai has also created a number of bespoke sporting venues and facilities that are on par with top venues around the world – and when that gold medal infrastructure is combined with traditional Arabian hospitality, the sporting world is given a winning combination that is hard to beat.

Since opening its first all-grass championship course at the Emirates Golf Club in 1988, Dubai has grown to become one of the most exciting golfing destinations in the world. Today, the Dhs8.8 million (US$2.4 million) Dubai Desert Classic – part of the PGA European Tour – attracts the world’s greatest stars including Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Lee Westwood and Colin Montgomerie. Each year, approximately 40,000 spectators take advantage of the smaller galleries to get up close to the great and the good of the game and enjoy one of the most popular dates on the Tour’s overseas calendar. The event, which was held from January 26th to February 1st this year and won by Rory McIlroy, is one of the social occasions of the year. But perhaps the biggest golfing highlight of 2009 is the inaugural Dubai World Championship, which is to be held in November. The tournament is the final competition in the Race to Dubai, which has replaced the European Tour Order of Merit. With a prize fund of more than Dhs36 million, it’s the world’s richest golf tournament. And who can forget the dramatic pictures of world number one Tiger Woods hitting golf balls into the Arabian Gulf from his ‘elevated tee’ on the Burj Al Arab helipad?

It’s not just Woods who enjoyed his photo shoot 200 metres above the shimmering Gulf, however. Roger Federer and Andre Agassi took their racquets to the top of the opulent seven-star hotel in 2005 during a break in the action at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Open. And like the Desert Classic, this is another event that attracts the sport’s big guns. In addition to the Swiss ace and the Vegas showman, the purposebuilt Dubai Tennis Stadium has also seen serves, slices and smashes from Tim Henman, Rafael Nadal, Stefan Edberg and Marat Safin. On the women’s front, Anna Kournikova, Williams sisters Venus and Serena, Justine Henin-Hardenne and Amelie Mauresmo have all grunted and groaned across the blue courts as the two events – both men’s and women’s opens – continue to go from strength to strength. The annual Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships signed a new three-year, Dhs33 million (US$9 million) sponsorship deal at the beginning of 2008 with Barclays, which resulted in a name change to the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championship.

Held every February, the tournament sees the ladies battling it out before the men take to the courts to round off the two-week tournament. This year, the top 10 women and seven of the top 10 men fought from February 15th to 28th. With so many household names, the tournament can rightly claim its place among the big four on the UAE sporting scene.
